655 Functions

When you hit the FUNC button, this is what it all means.

GRO- this will allow you to change the band selection default from A-E or F-L.

CHS – when in VFO mode, you can select the steps of frequency change when you turn the channel knob to 1 Khz, 10 Khz, 100 Khz or 1 Mhz.

ASQ – automatic squelch control either off or on.

Beep – roger beep.

TOT – Time Out Timer, this will limit how long you can yap per key up. Yup, you can shut yourself up.

SCM – this is how you set the scan mode. SQ will have it scan until a signal is received, TI will have it scan after 5 sec whether is signal is present or not.

SCT – scan resume time.

TSR – you can turn off SWR protection, don’t be an asshole and turn it off.

TDC – this is the voltage protection function, again keep this on.

LCD – you can choose what you see in the meter like name programed in, voltage, or both.

LOPT – controls back light interval.

TTON – you can change your bandwidth of your transmission signal, leave it on 4 Khz.

COMP – noise reduction of receiving signals.

MIC – DY is for dynamic mics, EL is for electret mics. If you are using a noise cancelling mic or stock mic, DY is the way to be.

FUNT – you can choose how many seconds the function menu appears.

Gate – reduces background noise during transmission.

NR – will reduce receiver noise.

VOXL – VOX is voice operated exchange or voice activated transmission. When you talk, you transmit. VOXL controls the sensitivity.

VOXT – add a delay to when the VOX ends the transmission.

CTCSS/DCS –

CTCSS is continuous tone coded squelch system. It’s a subaudible tone that opens up the squelch on the receiving end so both stations can talk. This is usually necessary to repeater operation.

DCS is digital coded squelch. Instead of a tone, this will transmit a digital code (usually below 300 Hz).

TSQ – turns on the CTCSS or DCS.

REP – in VFO mode will set the offset frequency.
