Don’t be Fukin Stupid.
See What the US Navy Found Out.
First off, galvanic corrosion occurs when two dissimilar metals are put together, fact.
Do you remember the launch of the USS Independence? Not the carrier, but the littoral combat ship (LCS). Wait, wtf is a LCS. It’s a ship that works near the coast, no worries, I had to look it up twice.
It was built for something like over 4 times it’s initial cost, and according to “Dick-O-Pedia”, you know, those peps that say they are unbiased. (laughing face, laughing face, finger, finger).
Commissioned in 2010 then decommissioned in 2021.
WHY??
It had an aluminum hull with a stainless steel propulsion system.
What happened?
“Galvanic corrosion caused by an aluminum hull acts as an anode (went to shit) in contact with the stainless steel propulsion system with sea water acting as an electrolyte, caused “aggressive corrosion“
The fukin hull started to dissolve because of GALVANIC action. Fact
The Navy lost a ship because of this.
So, why would you put an aluminum antenna bracket on your SS mirror bracket?
The aluminum leaks electrons into the SS and oxidizes. Take one off and you will see the white powdered aluminum oxide inside the bracket where it came into contact with the mirror bracket.
This oxidation causes you to lose your ground. No ground, no antenna, burn radio. Seen it too many times.
Don’t be stupid.
