Big Fukin Antenna Myths.

1

if your associate tells you antennas are self tuning, punch him in the throat.
He’s an asshole and has no idea of what the fuk he’s talking about.
Antennas have to be tuned to the frequency of operation. Meaning too short or too long, you are transmitting into high standing wave ratios (SWR) and if the power doesn’t get out- back into the radio it goes, then puff.
“hey I can’t get out”,
Me: “did you tune the antenna?”
“No it doesn’t need it”
Me: click.
Me: new radio sale, again.

2

“I need 18′ of coax”.
Me: “why”?
“Because that’s how it’s suppose to be!”
Me: “do you have any basis on why that’s accurate?”
“NO, it how it always has been!”
“If you state someone’s opinion as fact, please realize, you might be an asshole”
If your buddy’s 74 year old uncle with 3 teeth said, “well shoot, it always worked for me”
18 ‘ is so wrong on so many levels!
Ask 3 teeth unc if he included the velocity factor of the coax.
Then ask him what the half wave length on the line is at 27.185.
If he don’t go holly shit, he ain’t got shit.

“Dual antennas get you out twice as far”.
Is it based on anything outside of everclear?
Don’t get me wrong, I make my own, but that’s for entertainment, not radio facts.
I make money selling antennas, and I tell you to only buy one, if that don’t hit home, I got nothing.
