SuperStar 676 Knobs

Let’s start at the top row, left side, Knob above the mic plug.
Band Switch – keep it on “D” for regular channels. If you go to the Island, band “C”, the low side.

TB – PWR

The smaller inner knob is Talk Back. You can turn in on or off, and change it’s volume.
Talk back is so you can hear yourself to set your echo. If you have to have it on all the time, go buy a karaoke machine, and leave my radio alone.

The larger outer knob is Power. If it’s my tune up, when you key up the mic (dead key), it puts out 3 watts. When you talk it puts out 90 watts at an audio rate. Turn the power up, you are turning your dead key up but it’s still got the 90 watt output. You gain nothing and kinda beating the shit out of your radio.
If you want to be loud, leave it on low.

MODE
Leave it up on AM

NB/ANL
All the way up on NB+, it will clean up your receive.

LED
Switch it up to COL and turn the channel knob to change the color you want.
Switch it down to DIM and turn the channel know to dim or brighten your display.
Once set to your liking, put the switch in the middle.
If you don’t, you go to change channels and you get a color change or dim, no channel change.

Vol/SQ self explanatory

MIC/RF
The smaller inner knob is your Mic gain. Run it all the way up so people ask where did you get that radio. If you’re running nose to tail with someone and they want to say something is fuked up with your radio, lower the mic gain to about 2 o’clock. Your radio is overwhelming their’s.

The larger outer knob is RF gain. This is your receive. Run it all the way up. If you turn it down, you can eliminate any and all signals coming it. If you don’t hear anyone, turn this knob up and lower your squelch.

ECHO/Time
The smaller inner knob allows you to turn it on or off. If you want a mellow setting, the Inner knob at 11 o’clock and the outer one, ten o’clock.

I program these to show you the SWR. Every time you key up, the SWR will show up in the channel indicator. So go to channel 1, then 40.
If LOW on 1 and high on 40, shorten the whip.
If LOW on 40 and high on 1, lengthen the whip.
If you are on the low side of 19 most of the time, tune the antenna to have it lowest on channel 1.

If you see “E4” in the channel indicator, this is an error code I have programed in to shut the radio down from transmitting if something is wrong with the antenna system (antenna, stud, coax).
Say “thank you Mark” when this happens. It is preserving your radio from burning up.
