Parts List:
3’ steel antenna
medium duty spring
antenna bracket
spot mirror bracket
12’ coax w/removable PL 259
90° coax to radio connector (not needed if you don’t bend the end of the coax)
3 cable clips
1. Remove spot mirror and grind the nuts that hold the mirror to bear metal (for good ground connection).
2. Mount the spot mirror bracket with the mirror to the door.
3. Mount the antenna bracket, spring and antenna to the spot mirror bracket and tilt the antenna forward, no more than 35° from vertical.
4. Flip the coax over the door edge and run it down the inside of the door between the door weather seal. Use the clips to hold in place.
5. Remove the passenger side A-pillar plastic cover. Just above where this cover meets the dash, notch the frame ½” x ½”
6. Loosen the top corner molding piece and thread the coax through that piece then tuck in across the overhead molding to the radio hole.
7. Fit the coax into the notch you cut and replace A pillar molding and snug up the corner molding.
8. Screw on the removable PL-259. TUNE THE FUKIN ANTENNA!!!
Now as much as I hate aluminum on a truck, it is the only inexpensive way to mount off the spot mirror. Stainless are available but at a premium price. You can remove it (pain in the ass) and check and clean though.
